As one of the largest growers of tea and flowers in the world, Finlays are known as leading suppliers and producers of sustainable teas, coffee and botanical extracts. Their core values and beliefs are extremely important to their established brand, and for over 150 years they have been championing helping the environment, people, and communities globally. Their strong brand values were a key consideration when Squaredot took on the unique and challenging brief to co-locate the corporate office and tea tasting room.
It was integral to the project that the working environment blended the old with the new and the science with the admin, as well as incorporating the diverse influential associations they have with countries across the globe that they have locations in, including Africa and Asia. Finlays are a result of Britain’s ability to forge global relationships that help local communities, whilst simultaneously growing a successful business and importing some of the most valued commodities that Britons enjoy on a huge scale. Squaredot kept these factors in consideration throughout the design process, and so were able to create an atmosphere that is friendly and relaxed, with a unique sense of importance that clearly displays who they are as an ethical, sustainable, and diverse brand.
The tea tasting room was of particular importance, as the blending and tasting process ensures the high quality Finlays products are known for. Great care was taken to ensure this room was practical and aesthetically in keeping with the rest of the workplace, as well as the core brand image. An unusual facility to have in the heart of London, its location behind Buckingham Palace does speak to the prestige and heritage of this British brand.
