A sophisticated and stylish space in an unexpected place

Forty feet below one of London’s most overcrowded thoroughfares isn’t where you’d expect to find a sophisticated, sleek and, most importantly, light office space. But with a little help from Squaredot that is what you’ll find upon entering GIA London offices.

A relatively small basement space of 1500m² presents many challenges when it comes to designing an office that is pleasant to work in, light and airy, and demonstrates the sleek sophistication of a business - even more so when the office space is for a firm of light consultants. An emphasis on the quality of light and the use of the limited space was pivotal in the success of this project.

When approaching this project we treated the space as a blank canvas, and went in with no pre-conceptions or notions. We took “normal” materials and used them in special, unconventional ways to transform what could have easily been a bleak space into one of sophistication with elegant touches. Using colours in a smart way helped to emphasise the right area and create a lighter feel around the office. Every part of the GIA offices – from meeting rooms, to breakout areas and other common spaces, are all on brand, fresh feeling, and exude personality.
