Savills makes BCO & RICS Awards
Savills new office in Birmingham has been shortlisted for both Regional Midlands BCO Awards and the West Midlands RICS Awards 2019. This wasn’t about a generic fit, the workplace analysis that was carried out in the first instance, informed in every way, the profiles of worker, the activity associated with it, the space standards that apply to the different profiles and a calculator that projected what the business needed from the scheme. It led to the formulation of the brief and how an award winning building in its own right needed to be modelled to support a completely new way for Savills to use its work space.
One of the most notable considerations that Savills made was the switch from conventional fixed height workstations to electrically adjustable sit / stand principals of working. After a detailed analysis of the market and careful consideration of products available, the team selected a product that is truly sit / stand ready, a fixed height workstation that can be converted to a sit / stand one, by retro fitting a converter kit.
The staff are proud of what they have, and show it off to the Birmingham market and beyond. The business as a whole has embraced the gauntlet that the Birmingham project has thrown down and by raising the bar in terms of workplace standards is the envy of the Birmingham property industry. The approach to this project, its analytical foundation and the embracing of pertinent solutions is forging a national review across the United Kingdom. As a global player, the successes in Birmingham are going to have far reaching effects in the worldwide markets that Savills operate in, as the characteristics of their DNA are enviously displayed.
